What You’ll Find

It’s probably obvious.

You’ll find daily gratitude prompts here.
No specific format.
Besides daily.

Some prompts will be long.
Some will be short.

It may be text only.
It may be a video.
it may be audio.
It may be different combinations of the three.

You may laugh because of the prompt.
You may go into deep introspection because of the prompt.

Or it may simply bring a smile to your face.

OR (and I hope it’s not often!) a specific day’s prompt may not move you at all.

When that happens, you can either:

  • Try again tomorrow

  • Go back to a previous prompt

  • Make up your own prompt - you’ll be a master at that when you subscribe.

Why “The Daily Gratitude Prompt”?

SHORT ANSWER: Because life is better when we’re grateful.

LONGER ANSWER: My kids are awesome and they deserve to experience the better life that comes with gratitude. So I’m leaving this for them.

In the summer of 2011, I became the primary nighttime caretaker of my newborn child. This led to many sleepless nights and, surprisingly, a consistent gratitude practice.

One sleep-deprived night as my son was crying (or was it me crying!?!?)

I asked myself:
“Do I have to do this again???”

I heard the answer:
“No, you GET to do this again…”

My mind went to the people I personally knew who would LOVE the opportunity to wake up to a crying baby.

And not that I wasn’t still tired.
And not that sleepless nights after that were sunshine and rainbows.

But that season of life shifted me into a state where I grew to appreciate my experiences, lean into joy more, embrace the peace that was always available, and experience genuine contentment and fulfillment in everyday experiences.

So if I die tomorrow (or 80 years from now - or anytime in between)

Practicing gratitude - and maybe using The Daily Gratitude Prompt - is one of the things I want my kids to share with their grandkids’ kids if they’re blessed and fortunate enough to know them.

Who Am I Anyway

My name’s Conrad.

I’m a writer, husband, father, brother, son, cousin, nephew, uncle, and all those things to people that you may read about from time to time in these gratitude prompts.

I’m also an assistant pastor serving a beautiful family of Jesus lovers.

Since I’m a husband, father, and pastor… it may seem strange that I put “writer” first on the list above.

Or at least it feels strange to me.
But I’m embracing it.
Finally.

Years ago, in ministerial training, the teaching pastor had me and a group of ministers write out a list of everything we wanted to do for God, for people, for our communities, etc.

The instructions were inspiring.
The music was playing softly.
The lights were slightly dim.
The ambiance was perfect.

We were all feeling pretty great about our lists.

But as soon as we finished them…

We were told to ball up our papers and throw them in the trash.

The instructor said, “Now ask God what HE wants you to do.”

The first word I heard was - write.

At that time, it didn’t make sense to me.

How was I going to serve God and people through writing? (Seems like a SILLY question now, but that was one of my immediate thoughts.)

In the years since I’ve been able to serve 10,000+ people with my personal writing. On the professional side, I haven’t kept track, but I have no doubt that multiple millions of people have been directly and indirectly affected by my writing.

Currently, my personal writing that has reached the most people is a book called Husband On Purpose. Of course, gratitude played - and still plays! - a significant role in my being a husband on purpose.

Professionally, I’m a copywriter and I’ve written everything from marketing content for therapists, business conferences, and retail stores - to emails selling cat litter boxes, gut supplements for dogs, and Bavarian cuckoo clocks - just to name a very small few of the things I’ve written about.

Over the next few years, I assume gratitude will become one of the topics I write about the most publicly.

Thanks for joining me on this new journey!
